Certificate verification

Send us the serial. We will check it ourselves.

Every certificate we issue is serial numbered and carries an anti-counterfeit hologram. The register behind those numbers is ours and stays closed — it is not searchable, by anyone, which is precisely what makes it worth checking against.

Submit a serial and we will look it up by hand and write back with what we find. Free, whether you bought the piece from us or from somebody else years later.

Submit a serial for verification

The more you can tell us, the more use our answer will be. Photographs help most — of the certificate, of the hologram, and of the piece itself.

Copy it exactly, including any dashes and letters.
Nothing here counts against you. It tells us where to look.
Add photographs The certificate in full, a close-up of the hologram, and the piece itself. JPG or PNG, up to 10 files.
Not essential, but a verification without photographs can only ever be partial.

We do not publish what you send us, and we never tell anyone else that you asked. If you are considering a purchase, your enquiry stays between us and you.

Submitted — we will write back.

What we will confirm

What we will not

How a certificate is made

And why it is hard to fake
01

The serial is assigned before the sale

Issued against the lot as it is catalogued, and recorded at that moment. A lot with several separable pieces gets a certificate for each, so a costume broken up later still has paperwork on every part.

02

It is bound to the catalogue entry

The photographs, the description, the provenance and the acquisition route are attached to the serial when the lot is catalogued — not written up afterwards from memory.

03

The hologram is applied by hand

Each one is individually numbered to match its certificate and destroys itself if lifted. A clean, unnumbered hologram did not come from us.

04

The register outlives the sale

We keep certificate records permanently and privately. Somebody buying the piece from you in ten years can ask us the same question and get the same answer.

Buying an Icons piece from somebody else?

Ask before money changes hands. Send us the serial and give us two days — it is the difference between a documented piece and a good story. If we have no record of it, that is not proof of a fake on its own, but it is a question worth putting to the seller before you pay.

If you think a certificate has been copied, tell us. We investigate every report, and we retire a serial the moment we have to.
