What happens to your bids

We execute them competitively — your bid only goes as high as it needs to. If nobody else bids, you win at the opening price, whatever your maximum said.
Two identical absentee bids on one lot: the one we received first wins.
Your maximum is binding. If it wins, 28% buyer's premium and tax are added, and all sales are final.
There are no reserves, so a lot with one absentee bid on it sells to that bid.
We will email you within an hour of the sale closing, whether you won or not.

Deadline Telephone lines for Auction 75 must be booked by 5:00 PM ET on Friday 11 September. We take a limited number, so earlier is better.

Anything we should know

How the call goes

We ring five lots before yours comes up — usually eight to ten minutes.
We confirm your name and paddle number, then describe the lot on the block so you know exactly where we are.
You tell us to bid, we bid. Saying “yes” on the phone is the same as raising your hand — it is a binding bid.
If we cannot reach you and you left a cover bid, we bid up to it. If you did not, the lot sells without you.
Calls are recorded, which protects both of us if there is ever a question about what was said.
